Why Don't People Give More? Or Do They?

    Free Teleconference on December 3

In October, the Chronicle of Philanthropy published its analysis of charitable giving across America, county by county, metro city by city, and with comparison analysis to 2006. Arizona and metro Phoenix both ranked in the middle of the pack, which was surprising to many. Equally as surprising was the finding that during the Recession higher income Americans reduced the share of their income going to charitable contributions, while the rest of the population increased its share. What do these data mean? Are Americans becoming more charitable, or less? Should all Americans be giving more? And if they did, what would that mean for our communities?

Our local charities touch countless lives, teach us about compassion, advocate for important issues and work to make Phoenix, and our world, a safer, healthier and happier place to live.

Philanthropy is the driving force that enables nonprofit organizations to realize their missions. Without altruistic giving from the heart, they could never accomplish the powerful work that they accomplish every year.

The AFP Greater Arizona Chapter is proud to honor our nonprofit heroes at our 30th Annual Philanthropy Leadership Awards Dinner. We look forward to sharing this milestone event together to celebrate and demonstrate appreciation for the people and organizations who change our lives and destinies every day.
