In 1993, PGRTAZ President David Richardson (Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research) decided the monthly programming and networking that were so valuable for industry professionals needed to become more visible to the broader fundraising and financial community at large. So, in 1994, as immediate Past President, he started the first Summer Forum, at the Mission Palms, with one educational track including basic planned giving vehicles, recruited members to volunteer to conduct the trainings, and hosted an audience of more than 100 interested professionals. |
With David's founding legacy, each succeeding Vice President has became the de-facto Summer Forum Chair.
The event has grown over the years to include ever greater outreach, at least two learning tracks, sponsorship opportunities, nationally recognized plenary presenters, and themes pulling all presentations together around current industry events.
What hasn't changed? The collegiality and passion for philanthropy and community connecting us all in a day of learning, fellowship, and personal growth.
